Collins Stewart has appointed Jerry Levy senior managing director and regional head of fixed income.

Levy is charged with leading and developing the firm's fixed income business in the U.S., complementing the fixed income capabilities already present in London and Dublin.

In a statement, John Abularrage, CEO of Collins Stewart's North American Operations, said, "The introduction of a fixed income business in North America will enable the firm to build on its position as an industry leader here, not only in equities, options and research, but in the fixed income arena as well."

He added, "The hiring of someone as talented and experienced as Jerry is very much in keeping with our goal of building a first class credit and fixed income capability here. In fact, I don't believe there is any better way of demonstrating our commitment to serving our clients needs than by bringing the best talent in the industry into our firm.

Previously Levy was director of SAC Capital's Sigma Fixed Income Fund and has also held positions at BNP Paribas Securities, PaineWebber International and Cantor Fitzgerald U.K.
