James Leman Joins Westwater Corp.

James Leman, an industry veteran who brings 20-plus years of expertise in electronic trading as well as middle and back-office technology strategies, has joined Westwater Corp. as managing director and head of its Capital Markets Practice.
Westwater Corp. is an advisory and technology consulting firm, specializing in the financial services industry and with clients in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Leman was most recently managing director and head of execution trading for the Americas at HSBC, where he was in charge of program trading, algorithmic trading, DMA and connectivity initiatives. Prior to joining HSBC in July of 2005, Leman was president of SunGard BRASS, the provider of equity trading technology. Prior to that Leman was responsible for Citigroup/Salomon Brothers' global electronic trading and connectivity. He was also a founding member of the FIX (Financial Information eXchange) Protocol.
"Joining Westwater gives me the opportunity to apply my experience on Wall Street with large brokers, vendors and exchanges in a meaningful way with clients," stated Leman in the release. Leman said, "At a time when technology is driving so much change," his experience would be relevant to "both buy-side and sell-side firms seeking solutions to cope with challenges the markets and their clients present to them."
Meanwhile, Ravi Manchi, a principal at Westwater, cited in the release the "unprecedented combination of market structures and competitive pressures in 2007 and beyond" facing the capital markets. "Jim's vision and hands-on involvement in electronic trading, middle office, operations, product management and technology innovations" would enable the consulting firm to guide its clients in solving the challenges that lie ahead.
